Activity of neurons transfected with GCamp6f, a calcium sensitive protein that fluoresces when sensing the calcium influx in activated neurons. Images are acquired using a cannula implanted in the prefrontal cortex and a wide-field fluorescent microscope. The neuronal activity observed in this mouse was not correlated with sensory stimulations. It represents the inner thoughts of the animal.

The fluorescent activity of a subset of neuron has been digitized and transduced into different sound samples using a live coding software. Each active neuron produces a sound element such as frequency, amplitude or duration.
